Organic Eucalyptus - is Eucalyptus really sustainable?
For the global environment, we are trying our best to develop more sustainable and renewable materials. After years of research, we found a new material which can perfectly meet the need for independent and high-quality guarantee of the renewability- Eucalyptus. As we know, Eucalyptus fabric is often described as a sustainable alternative material to cotton, but how sustainable is it? Are they renewable? Ethical? Sustainable Forestry Most of Eucalyptus trees are rapid growers, achieving growth of about 6 to 12 feet (1.8-3.6 m.) or more each year. In general, it will grow maturely within 5 to 7 years after plantation. Therefore, Eucalyptus can be a perfect sustainable alternative material to cotton if it is planted in the right way. But what is the right way of plantation? In Besuper production chain, our plantation system is certified by CFCC(=China Forest Certification Council) and PEFC(=Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes), which proves the sustainability in our Eucalyptus plantation. On 1Mn hectares of our land for forestation, whenever we cut down mature Eucalyptus trees to make wood pulp, we will immediately plant the same number of Eucalyptus. Under this planting system, the forest is sustainable on the land we owned. How Green is Eucalyptus Fabric? Eucalyptus as a diaper material is known as Lyocell, which is made from the pulp of Eucalyptus trees. And the Lyocell process makes it more benign and eco-friendly. Furthermore, to minimize the impact on the environment, we manage to reuse 99% of the solvent which is considered non-toxic for air, water and humans. Water and waste is also reused in our unique closed loop system to conserve water and energy. Besides production process, the topsheet+backsheet of our diapers made from Lyocell fiber are 100% bio-based and 90 days bio-degradable. Is Lyocell Safe for Humans? In terms of people, the production process is non-toxic, and communities are not affected by pollution. In addition, in this pattern of sustainable forestation, a large number of employment opportunities are provided and local economy are boosted. Consequently, Lyocell appears to be 100% harmless for humans. And The European Union(EU) awarded Lyocell process the Environmental Award 2000 in the category ‘Technology for Sustainable Development’. To assure our clients, we have obtained sustainable certifications throughout product life cycle- CFCC, PEFC, USDA, BPI, etc.. Are diapers made from Eucalyptus Fabric of good quality? Eucalyptus is a fast-growing tree with the potential to be eco-friendly material for the diaper industry- it turns out that they can be used to create a versatile fabric which is breathable, absorbent and soft. What’s more, the diapers made from Eucalyptus fabric has much less impurities, stains and fluffs. Over the years, we have been committed to the eco-friendly production and strive to meet our customers needs at the same time. Hope you can join us and protect our planet with us!
